October 1, 2013  Day 132
Mystic Seaport Museum
Mystic, Connecticut

Just a quick note tonight.  We picked up a rental car this morning and drove to nearby Waterford, CT to visit Defender, a large Marine supply store. They do a great deal of mail order sales and this is also the site of their large warehouse.  Our dinghy has been in “less than good condition”. Bill has to inflate it every time we use it and we finally decided to replace it.  It made sense to purchase it here since they will deliver it to our boat tomorrow.  We spent much of today dealing with this.

We had hoped to visit the US Submarine Museum in Groton, CT, but they have closed their doors temporarily without government funding. This was to have been a special visit. Bill’s mother served in the US Navy as a WAVE during WWII and was stationed here. When she passed away, we donated her uniform, medals, and many photographs to the museum. We will return another time.

We may extend our stay here in Mystic until Saturday.  There is much yet to see, and we have much work to accomplish also.
