September 15, 2013 Day 116  Penobscot Bay
Trident Yacht Basin
Rockland, Maine

Incredible views on Penobscot Bay
We left our mooring in Castine Harbor at 9:30 and had a great ride for three hours to Rockland, Maine.  A sunny sky, very light breeze, calm water and fewer lobster pots makes a difference – not to mention the incredible view in all directions!
A cruise ship was here today but left for Bar Harbor
while we were at dinner.

We arrived at Trident Yacht Basin in Rockland at 12:30 and got secured at the marina.  The staff is very friendly and helpful.  We were given a jar of raspberry jam and free practically unlimited use of the courtesy car while we are here.  We also had our mail sent here and picked that up on arrival.

We had lunch on board and then Bill thoroughly cleaned the exterior of the boat.  Later, we took the courtesy car and drove around Rockland and the surrounding area.  Tomorrow we will do provisioning and check out some of the museums.  We stopped for dinner at Café Miranda – a small but excellent restaurant!   Then we drove down to another marina and found Lisa and Ron on Outbound and visited with them briefly. We will see them again tomorrow.

Rockland is a very nice community and is in a beautiful coastal setting.  We will spend two days here – it will be hard not to stay longer!
