July 4, 2015  Day 14  New York Summer 2015
Utsch’s Marina
Cape May, NJ

Happy Fourth of July!

We had a very nice day in Cape May. We took the trolley ($1 per person) down to the “hub” of Cape May. The trolley follows Beach Road lined with bed and breakfast inns, many in a Victorian architecture, and of course the beach and boardwalk line the east side of the road.  Then the trolley dropped us off at the Washington Street Mall. This area is filled with boutiques, restaurants, ice cream parlors, horse drawn carriages, outdoor seating areas, etc. the mall is not an enclosed area – but refers instead to a pedestrian area.  We had fun browsing the stores and yes, having ice cream!
The carriages are all decked out!
After being there for about three hours, we took the trolley back to the stop nearest the marina (about a ten minute walk), and made our way back to the boat. Our new Looper friend, Colin, came over and together we planned the next few days of travel up the Jersey Coast. They had planned to leave today but winds and waves kept them here.  We had another nice visit and are happy to be traveling with them.

We had a light dinner on board this evening and as I write, we are waiting on the fireworks!  They will be displayed on the beachfront and we hope to be able to see them from the marina. We will head to Atlantic City in the morning. It is  a 43 mile ride and we will be three miles offshore with three foot waves forecast.
